Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 31, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Folumia ("we," "us") collects when you use our website and mobile app, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who creates a Folumia account or otherwise uses our services. By using Folumia, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

When you create a Folumia account, we collect the information you provide — such as a username, nickname, email address, or phone number, plus anything you choose to add to your profile, like an avatar or short bio. If you sign in with Google, Apple, Facebook, GitHub, X (Twitter), or WeChat, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from that provider, as permitted by their sign-in flow.

We also collect the content you create while using Folumia: the pages and articles you save (including their full text, so you can search and read them later), any highlights and notes you add, the tags and collections you create, and your reading progress. Separately, we automatically collect some technical information whenever you use our website or app — such as your IP address, browser or device type, and general usage activity — to keep the service secure and working correctly.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide the core Folumia experience — saving and parsing the pages you send us, powering search across your library, syncing your highlights and reading progress across devices, and generating AI summaries, answers, and suggestions when you ask for them. We also use it to secure your account (for example, detecting suspicious sign-in activity), to send you account-related emails, SMS codes, or push notifications you’ve asked for, to respond when you contact support, and to understand how Folumia is used so we can fix problems and improve it.

Data Storage

Your account information and the content you save are stored on servers we operate, protected with standard security practices such as encrypted connections. We keep your saved articles, highlights, notes, and other library content for as long as your account is active. Some technical and security logs (such as sign-in records and IP addresses) are retained for longer, without a fixed automatic deletion schedule, to help us investigate abuse and keep the service secure — you can ask us to review or delete specific records by contacting us (see “Contact Us” below).

Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate Folumia, and only for the purposes described here.

Depending on which features you use, this can include: AI processing providers, which receive the text of an article (or an excerpt) and any question you ask, in order to generate summaries, answers, and other AI features; a speech-to-text provider, which receives audio (or a link to it) when you request a transcript; cloud storage providers, which host your avatar, uploaded files, and images from the articles you save; SMS and email providers, which deliver verification codes and account notifications; payment processors — Apple, Google, Stripe, and Creem — which handle subscriptions and purchases (we never receive or store your full card details); a push-notification provider, which delivers alerts to your device; and crash-reporting or analytics tools, which help us find and fix problems.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, safety, or property of Folumia or our users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case we would let you know.

Cookies and Local Storage

Folumia’s website uses browser local storage — not third-party advertising cookies — to keep you signed in and remember preferences like your reading theme. We don’t run advertising trackers or sell data to ad networks. Our mobile app does not use cookies; it stores your session the same way, locally on your device.

Your Rights and Choices

You can view and update most of your account information — nickname, avatar, bio, email, phone, and preferences — directly in the app or on the website. You can export your saved library at any time in several formats, and you can delete individual saved items, highlights, tags, or collections yourself, whenever you like.

You can also delete your account from Settings. Doing so removes your personal profile information (username, email, phone, avatar) and signs you out of every device immediately. It does not automatically delete your saved articles, highlights, notes, subscription and order history, or activity logs, which we retain as part of your account history. If you’d like us to delete this remaining data as well, contact us at [email protected] and we’ll take care of it.

If you have any other request about your information — correcting something that’s wrong, or asking what we hold about you — email us at [email protected] and we’ll respond as soon as we can.

Data Security

We use industry-standard measures — including encrypted connections and access controls — to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or loss. No method of storing or transmitting data over the internet is perfectly secure, though, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach that affects your data, we’ll notify you as required by applicable law.

Children’s Privacy

Folumia is not directed at children, and you must be at least 13 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we’ve collected information from a child under 13, we’ll delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, as we add features or work with new service providers. If we make a significant change, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Continuing to use Folumia after a change means you accept the updated policy.
